Andaman cobra is a medium-sized snake with a streamlined, slender body covered in smooth, glossy scales. Its dominant color is dark brown, accentuated by lighter, arrow-point patterns along its back. This reptile lacks prominent limbs but features a hood that flares out when threatened. A uniquely arrow-shaped marking on the back of its hood sets it apart. Notably, without significant differences linked to age or gender, all individuals of this species display similar characteristics.
Behavior
Andaman cobra is a nocturnal and solitary species. It primarily shows crepuscular activity, thriving in animal burrows or rocky shelters during daytime. Its defensive behavior includes displaying a hood and occasionally, hissing. Andaman cobra's diet majorly consists of rodents which it locates using heat sensing pits.
