Appearance
Great barred river-frog is a large, robust frog whose rough-textured skin resembles bark camouflaging it in its forest environment. Predominantly a khaki-brown hue, it's punctuated with scattered darker spots. A distinctive yellow stripe graces the length of its back, beginning between the eyes and terminating at the vent. Neither age, gender, nor subspecies cause any appreciable variation in its appearance.
Behavior
Great barred river-frog is primarily nocturnal, hunting for small invertebrates during the damp twilight hours. This frog has unique parental care behaviors, with males guarding eggs laid in terrestrial nests. Solitary in nature, it seldom interacts with others outside breeding.
