Microhyla heymonsi (commonly known as the dark-sided chorus frog or the Taiwan rice frog) is a species of narrow-mouthed frog found in northeastern India, southern China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia south to the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra as well as the Great Nicobar Island. It was originally described from Taiwan.

Dark-sided chorus frog mainly subsists on a diet of small invertebrates, primarily focusing on a variety of ants and termites. They are also known to consume other types of arthropods, supplementing the diet with necessary proteins.
Appearance
Dark-sided chorus frog is a small-sized frog with a slender body and silky smooth skin. The appealing coloration features varying shades of dark brown to black, occasionally with lighter patches. Its tiny size and lack of any tail or horns are distinctive traits. No notable differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies exist in this species.
Behavior
Dark-sided chorus frog is predominantly nocturnal. It starts calling activity just after sunset, with peak calling activity in the first half of the night. Males of dark-sided chorus frog display unique vocalization patterns to attract females for mating. It is primarily a burrower, dwelling in moist places near rice fields, ditches, and ponds.
