Description
The lip bear (Melursus ursinus) is a species of predator from the bear family (Ursidae). In the construction of the snout, it has some adaptations to a food consisting mainly of insects and is native to South Asia.

The diet of sloth bear prominently consists of insects, notably termite and ant larvae. It has a partiality for honey, fruits, and flowers, but it is also known to consume bird eggs, carrion, and ground-dwelling species when needed.
Appearance
Sloth bear is a medium to large-sized mammal with a robust, sloping body shape and a shaggy fur coat. Its coat is usually a mix of grey and brown tones. Notable features include a white snout, along with long, sickle-shaped claws used for digging and climbing. They possess a flexible, mobile snout and long, floppy ears. No significant differences are observed in the appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies.
Behavior
Sloth bear is predominantly nocturnal, engaging in foraging and digging activities post-sunset primarily for insects and fruits. Utilizing a semi-arboreal lifestyle, it builds nests on tree branches. Exceptionally solitary, sloth bear exhibits a notable claw marking behavior for territorial delineation. Adapted to suit its natural habitat, sloth bear hibernates during extreme seasons for survival.
