Diet
Gray brocket's diet primarily consists of leaves, fresh shoots, and various fruits. It prefers succulent green growth, uncovering food by digging and browsing. Seasonal fruit consumption is particularly notable in its feeding habits.
Appearance
Gray brocket is a small to medium-sized deer with a lightweight, slender body. Covered in short, smooth fur, its colour ranges between brown and grey, with lighter tones on its under-parts. It has a noticeable white patch on its throat. Males possess short, straight antlers, while females lack them. Juveniles have spots on their fur which disappear as they reach adulthood.
Behavior
Gray brocket typically lead a solitary life, only coming together for mating season. Primarily crepuscular, these animals dedicate the hours of dawn and dusk to forage for fruits, leaves, and buds. Their survival adaptations include a keen sense of hearing and a swift running ability to escape from predators. Notably, gray brocket do not mark or heavily defend their territory.
