Mauremys reevesii, commonly known as the Chinese pond turtle, the Chinese three-keeled pond turtle, or Reeves' turtle, is a species of turtle in the family Geoemydidae, a family which was formerly called Bataguridae. The species is endemic to Asia.

Chinese pond turtle primarily feeds on aquatic vegetation, such as duckweed and water hyacinth. Its diet also comprises invertebrates, including snails, and a limited quantity of fish, illustrating a balance between herbivorous and carnivorous inclinations.
Appearance
Chinese pond turtle is a medium-sized turtle with an oval, moderately domed carapace (shell). The shell exhibits hues of brown to olive-green, often decorated with irregular, faded, dark patterns. It has a slightly hooked upper jaw and a stripe behind the eye. Its plastron (underside) is yellow with black blotches. The species shows slight sexual dimorphism, where females are a bit larger and have a significantly flatter plastron than their male counterparts.
Behavior
Chinese pond turtle is a predominantly diurnal, semi-aquatic species. It demonstrates basking behavior and spends significant amounts of time on land, heat regulation being an important survival adaptation. Feeding on an omnivore diet, it forages both in water and on land. Usually solitary, individuals become territorial and aggressive towards others during breeding season.
