Diet
Boddaert's tropical racer predominantly feed on small mammals, especially rodents and bats. They demonstrate a hunting behavior characterized by ambush and active foraging, particularly in regions dense with their preferred prey.
Appearance
Boddaert's tropical racer is a large snake with a slender body that typically measures between 1.5 to 2.5 metres long. Its skin has a glossy sheen and displays a striking color pattern, mainly yellowish-brown or olive with darker crossbars. This species is devoid of any notable appendages such as horns, wings or a distinctive tail shape. There is no considerable variation in appearance with age or between genders.
Behavior
Boddaert's tropical racer is a nocturnal, non-venomous constrictor snake known for its active, aggressive hunting style. Solitary by nature, it often engages in combative behavior when threatened. It feeds primarily on small mammals, chasing after and overtaking its prey rather than lying in wait. Unusually, boddaert's tropical racer has been observed eating while moving—a rare behavior among snakes.
