Diet
Fisher primarily feeds on small mammals like voles, squirrels, and rabbits. This species also includes birds, fruits, carrion, and even plant matter in its diet during scarcity of prey.
Appearance
Fisher is a medium-sized mammal with a long, elongated body and dense, dark brown or black fur, often with a grizzled appearance. They sport a bushy tail and their heads have a pointed snout and rounded ears. Males are larger than females, with lengths up to 47 inches, whereas females reach up to 37 inches. There are no significant markings or patterns on their fur.
Behavior
Fisher are solitary and elusive with nocturnal tendencies, often dwelling in dense forests. Primarily terrestrial, they possess adept climbing abilities. They are opportunistic omnivores, foraging on smaller mammals, fruits, and insects. Mating season sees a rare social interaction with complex vocal and physical displays. This species has been observed to perform scent-marking as a territorial behavior.
