Slender tree frog is a medium-sized frog with a smooth, moist skin. Its coloration varies from entirely dark green to almost black, sometimes with lighter green or bronze spots. This frog has a distinctive white line running from its lower lip to hind legs. Males are generally smaller than females, whereas the younger ones exhibit brighter coloration. An unusual feature is its horizontally elliptical pupils, unlike most anuran species with round ones.

Slender tree frog is a nocturnal, predominantly tree-dwelling amphibian. It displays a solitary lifestyle with limited social interaction, except during breeding season. Uniquely, this species produces a distinctive mating call resembling a 'tok' sound. Males exhibit territoriality, defending preferred calling sites.
