Lifespan
5-8 years
Diet
Guthega skink primarily subsists on a diverse invertebrate diet. It favorably consumes spiders, worms, and small insects but occasionally supplements the diet with soft plant materials for nutrient balance.
Appearance
Guthega skink is a small, slender skink, typically 50–70mm in total length. It has smooth, glossy scales with a base color of dark brown, adorned with pale yellowish-brown dorsal stripes. Notable features include a pointed snout and a long, tapering tail. Both male and female species appear similar in colour and size. As the skink matures, its colouration becomes more contrasting and vivid.
Behavior
Guthega skink exhibits a solitary existence, primarily nocturnal in activity with focus on foraging during dusk or after rainfall. They use thermoregulation, basking on sun-exposed rocks during the day. Defining male territories via scent marking is characteristic. Survival is adapted to alpine regions involving camouflage and sheltering in rock crevices.
