Diet
Savage's thin-toed frog has a carnivorous diet primarily composed of insects. It displays a distinct preference for soft-bodied invertebrates such as spiders and worms, ensuring essential protein intake. This species is also known to consume other smaller amphibians when necessary.
Appearance
Savage's thin-toed frog is a medium-sized frog with a slightly oval body shape, dense, rough skin, and long, robust hind legs. It sports a tan to brown coloration, often with darker, irregular markings across the body and limbs, and a distinctive sharp-edged fold across the back. No notable differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies are observed.
Behavior
Savage's thin-toed frog is principally nocturnal with a high degree of environmental and temporal variability in its activities. It exhibits a fascinating reproductive strategy, constructing foam nests in underground chambers or water bodies. Being moderately social, it tends to vocalize as part of territorial defense, primarily during the breeding season. Its survival is enhanced by being highly adaptable to different habitats.
