 The smoky jungle frog (Leptodactylus pentadactylus) is a species of frog in the family Leptodactylidae. Its local Spanish name is sapo-toro comun (roughly, "common bullfrog"). It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, rivers, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, and aquac

 Smoky jungle frog thrives on a diet predominantly of insects, but is known for its diverse dietary range, consuming mainly smaller arthropods, gastropods, and occasionally smaller amphibians, demonstrating its opportunistic feeding habits. 
   Appearance
 Smoky jungle frog is a large frog with a robust body and warty skin. Its primary coloration is dark brown, often patterned with cream or tan markings. The distinguishing feature of this species is the webbing between its toes, which gives it an odd, five-fingered appearance. There are no significant differences in appearance due to sex, age, or subspecies. 
   Behavior
 Smoky jungle frog is predominantly nocturnal, foraging for food and mating under the cover of night. Known for its loud and aggressive mating calls, it shows territorial behavior by expanding its vocal sac to ward off competition. This species is solitary outside of breeding season and exhibits an unusual behavior of creating foam nests for offspring.
