Leioheterodon madagascariensis or the Madagascan Giant Hognose is a snake species that can be found in Madagascar, Nosy Be, Nosy Sakatia and Comoros Islands. They can grow from 130â180Â cm. It is thought by some to have been introduced to the Grande Comoro.

Malagasy giant hognose is primarily an ophiophagous (snake-eating) predator. While this species heavily favors preying upon colubrid and mildly venomous snakes, it also occasionally switches to diverse invertibrates, when suitable snake prey is scarce.
Appearance
Malagasy giant hognose is a medium-sized snake with a stout body and smooth, glossy skin. Its coloration is mainly brown, occasionally with darker crossbands. Notable features include a pointed snout and large eyes with vertical pupils. There is little known variation in appearance between age groups or genders. Its striking appearance combines with its physical robustness to make it an impressive sight.
Behavior
Malagasy giant hognose is largely solitary, exhibiting a preference for night-time activities such as foraging for small vertebrates and invertebrates.
