Diet
Eastern casquehead iguana is primarily herbivorous, feeding predominantly on a diet rich in leaf vegetation. Their propensity for consuming leaves, predominantly from Ficus trees, forms a significant part of their nutritional intake. Ingesting a variety of soft leaves, they meticulously chew these fibrous materials, extracting optimum nutrients.
Appearance
Eastern casquehead iguana is a medium-sized lizard with a long, slender body and a pointed snout, distinguished by its exceptionally long hind legs. Its skin is scaly and predominantly green, with lighter undersides. A notable feature is its four short horns above the eyes. Eastern casquehead iguana lacks any gender-based differences in appearance, but its coloration can darken with age.
Behavior
Eastern casquehead iguana is a diurnal, arboreal species, noted for its tendency to remain motionless, adeptly camouflaging in its tropical habitat. It demonstrates skittish, solitary behavior, coupled with unique extended head-bobbing when threatened. Territorial markings are not prominent as individual space largely overlaps with others.
