Description
Ugandan kob flourishes in a variety of wetland habitats, displaying a unique semi-aquatic lifestyle, driven by specific nutritional needs and predator avoidance strategies. It subsists primarily on aquatic vegetation, a diet facilitated by its adaptations for water-based foraging. Moreover, herding behavior, exhibited particularly during mass migrations, enhances its survival prospects by mitigating predation risk.

Diet
Ugandan kob are primarily herbivores, feeding extensively on grasses. They show a behavior known as grazing, spending most of their time in wetlands and floodplains munching on lush vegetation, particularly during the rainy seasons.
Appearance
Ugandan kob is a medium-sized antelope with a slender, almost delicate build covered with short fur. Predominately chestnut to reddish-brown, it showcases distinct vertical white stripes on its flanks. A distinguishing feature is the long, lyre-shaped horns in males, absent in females. Both genders possess white underparts and a conspicuous white eye-ring. There is no significant variation in coloration with age.
Behavior
Ugandan kob exhibits sociable behavior, forming groups known as cohorts, crucial for foraging and defense. Primarily diurnal, ugandan kob graze in mornings and evenings, exploiting their floodplain habitat. Ugandan kob loan territorial males often mark feces and urine, displaying aggressive behavior to maintain territory. Breeding is seasonal, influenced by rainfall patterns.
