Icelandic Horse showcases a range of colors, most commonly dun, with variations such as chestnut, black, palomino, and silver dapple. Unique to the breed are the 'tölt' markings, a type of gait pattern visible in the coat. Standing 13 to 14 hands, their sturdy build is compact and muscular, designed for resilience and adaptability to harsh climates. The mane and tail are thick, typically the same color as their coat, particularly resistant to matting in the cold. Notable breed-specific features include large eyes, typically brown, with age-linked graying observable around the muzzle area.
