Description
Hyperolius nasutus is a species of frog in the family Hyperoliidae. Common names include long-nosed reed frog, sharp-nosed reed frog and long reed frog. It is known from northern Angola and northern Botswana (Okavango Delta), but it presumably occurs more widely (including the intervening Namibia). The nominal Hyperolius nasutus was partitioned in 2013 into three cryptic species, the other two being Hyperolius viridis and Hyperolius microps

Diet
Long reed frog's primary food is small invertebrates. Its diet mostly consists of a variety of arthropods, specifically insects, favoring tiny beetles, spiders, and ants, which it actively hunts primarily during the night.
Appearance
Long reed frog is a small tree frog with smooth, glossy skin. The frog varies in color from pale green to reddish brown and possesses intense orange to yellow markings. Males display a distinctive vocal sac which is bluish-white in color. During the initial stages of development, froglets showcase a uniform brown coloration and lack the adult's vivid patterning. No significant differences in coloration due to gender or subspecies have been observed.
Behavior
Long reed frog exhibits a largely nocturnal lifestyle, with principal activity revolving around hunting for insects. Males, known for their unique vocal sacs, use loud calls to attract females and establish territories. This anuran remains solitary outside the mating season, relying on its greenish-hued camouflage for protection in leafy habitats.
