Description
 The Kori salamander (Hynobius yangi) is a species of salamander endemic to southeastern South Korea. It is a lentic-breeding species similar to the Korean salamander (H. leechi) but is distinguished by factors including tail shape and dorsal coloration. The species is known from the vicinity of the type locality in Gijang County in northeastern Busan and from the nearby Ulju County in western Ulsan.

 The Hynobius yangi is a salamander with a slim body and sleek, moist skin. Measuring 6–8 cm in length, it sports mostly dark brown hues with lighter, speckled markings. Notable traits are the long, waved tail and external gills. Both genders are similar in appearance, with no significant distinction in coloration or markings. Its overall look offers a snapshot of its semi-aquatic lifestyle, emphasizing adaptations for a life spent at water-land interfaces. 
   Behavior
 Kori salamander is a markedly nocturnal species with solitary tendencies. It exudes a low-level of physical activity outside of the breeding season, when members display elevated interaction. The species features remarkable burrowing behavior construed as territorial defense. Its diet predominantly includes small insects, demonstrating adapted foraging within a forested habitat.
