General Info
Lifespan
5-10 years
Diet
Predominantly insectivorous, sardinian tree frog feeds mostly on small arthropods. With its agile jumps, it captures prey such as beetles, spiders, small moths, and other insects, especially preferring those from canopies in Mediterranean woodlands.
Appearance
Sardinian tree frog is a modest-size amphibian, notably small and slim with smooth, taut skin. It demonstrates an interesting variety of coloration, mainly bright green, yet it can adapt its color intensity to surroundings. Sharp, black eyes and hind legs adept for hopping are stand-out features. Neither age nor gender involves significant visual distinctions. This agile, streamlined creature maintains a translucent underbelly contrasting its lush, top-side coloration.
Behavior
Sardinian tree frog is mostly nocturnal and arboreal, specializing in insect consumption and noted for exceptional leaping capabilities to evade predators. This species is territorial, using acoustic signals to assert dominance or attract mates. During the breeding season, males exhibit competitive behaviors to secure females. Adapted to Mediterranean climates, sardinian tree frog thrives in dense vegetation and moist environments.
