Description
Hyla molleri, also known as the Iberian tree frog or Moller's tree frog, is a species of frog in the family Hylidae, endemic to the Iberian Peninsula and southernmost France. It was formerly treated as a subspecies of Hyla arborea, but was split based on genetic differences. The specific name molleri honours Adolphe F. Moller (1842â1920), a Portuguese botanist.

Appearance
Iberian tree frog is a medium-sized frog, distinguished by its robust, almost spherical body and smooth, moist skin. Its main coloration is a shade of bright green, often adorned with irregular darker spots. A dark stripe runs from its nose through the eyes to the flanks. The undersides are usually creamy-white. No significant differences appear due to age, gender, or subspecies.
Behavior
Iberian tree frog are typically nocturnal and exhibit mating calls, particularly in spring and summer nights. These amphibians favor trees and shrubs near water bodies for their arboreal lifestyle. Their survival adaptation includes excellent camouflage within green vegetation. Iberian tree frog also display territorial behavior during mating, with males aggressively defending their calling sites.
