Description
The common Chinese tree frog (Hyla chinensis, also known under common names common Chinese treetoad and Chinese tree toad) is a species of frog in the Hylidae family found in southeastern and eastern China and in Taiwan. There is also one record from Vietnam but it is uncertain whether it really represents this species or Hyla annectans.

Common chinese tree frog predominantly subsist on a diet of small invertebrates, including but not limited to, insects and spiders. The spectrum of their diet broadens with age, incorporating larger insects and larvae with growth progression.
Appearance
Common chinese tree frog is a medium-sized tree frog with a soft, smooth skin. It commonly exhibits varying shades of green, but can change its color based on its environment. A noticeable white or yellow stripe runs from the eye to the posterior body. Its most distinctive features include large, bulging eyes, long hind limbs built for climbing, and large, webbed feet. No significant differences due to age, gender, or subspecies have been noted.
Behavior
Common chinese tree frog is primarily arboreal, camouflaging within foliage to evade predators. Active primarily at night, it forages for insects and other small arthropods. Despite its nocturnal predisposition, mating calls are mostly reported during the day. These creatures are solitary except during breeding season. It shows territoriality, with males vocally defending selected perches.
