Hemidactylus platyurus, commonly known as the flat-tailed house gecko, is a species of Gekkonidae native to southeastern and southern Asia. The species is sometimes classified under the genus Cosymbotus.

Appearance
Flat-tailed house gecko is a medium-sized gecko with a flattened body. Its skin, textured with fine granular scales, is brownish-gray with darker bands across its back and tail. Notably, it exhibits a leaf-like expanded tail, segmented for possible autonomy. Both sexes look similar; however, males bear preanal pores, which are absent in females. There's no significant visual difference among juveniles and adults, apart from size.
