5-10 years
Diet
Common house gecko primarily feeds on insects and spiders, exhibiting a particular preference for arthropods and moths. Along with nocturnal foraging, it often demonstrates opportunistic predation on smaller or juvenile geckos.
Appearance
Common house gecko are small, typically measuring about 7-15 cm in total length. The body is elongated with a flattened profile, covered in smooth, soft skin. Their color varies among different shades of grey and brown, with spotted patterns across their back and tail. A distinctive feature is their large, vertical-slit eyes. Their elongated toes are equipped with adhesive pads for climbing. Males have pre-anal pores and hemipenile bulges, distinguishing them from females.
Behavior
Common house gecko are nocturnal creatures often found in human settlements, demonstrating their adaptability. They exhibit social dominance hierarchies, often marked by aggressive physical encounters. Common house gecko's ability to regenerate lost body parts is a unique survival behavior. Exceptionally versatile, they can scale surfaces due to specialized toe pads.
