Description

Brook's house gecko is a nocturnally active gecko, often found utilizing vertical surfaces of buildings and trees in various terrains, reflecting its adaptation to diverse habitats. Its diet primarily comprises of small invertebrates, an ecological preference that controls the population of these invertebrates and contributes to the balance of the ecosystem.

Appearance

Brook's house gecko is a medium-sized gecko, featuring a flattened body and an elongate tail. Its skin is adorned with granular scales, predominantly in a brown shade with lighter, irregular mottling. A few dark, transverse bands are noticeable across its tail. Distinctive tubercles can be found along its flanks and posterior body. No substantial variation occurs in appearance due to age or gender.

Behavior

Brook's house gecko is a nocturnal, arboreal species noted for its characteristic hunting and feeding behavior. It primarily preys on insects and uses adhesive toe pads for locomotion on vertical surfaces. It is territorial and solitary, engaging in aggressive displays to ward off intruders. Notably hot-season breeding and egg deposition behavior is observed for survival.
