Diet
Free Madagascar Frog prominently consumes small arthropods, a dietary preference observed in its natural habitat. It exhibits a particular predilection for spiders, systematically exploiting spider-frequented microhabitats to meet nutritional needs.
Appearance
The free Madagascar Frog is a petite amphibian with a slender body, featuring a moist, smooth skin surface typical of its kind. Showcasing an impressive palette, it possesses a rich green dorsal color, with intricate brown marks that function as camouflage. Although gender-based differences are subtle, males are usually slightly smaller than females. Neither horns, wings, nor a remarkable tail are characteristics of this species.
Behavior
Free Madagascar Frog inhabits the leaf axils of water-filled plants, facilitating a unique reproductive strategy called phytotelm-breeding. With a rather solitary lifestyle, territorial behaviors are not common. Prominent nocturnal activity is observed, wherein the species typically hunts small arthropods. Notable for their survival, they display excellent camouflage, blending seamlessly with plant leaves.
