 The yellow-headed gecko can grow up to between 69–90 mm (2.7–3.5 in). Male yellow-headed geckos have yellowish heads and blue-blue bodies unlike the female yellow-headed geckos which have white-gray heads and bodies. The species are also identified by their round pupils and digits without extending lamellae.

 Gonatodes fuscus is essentially insectivorous, primarily consuming small arthropods. It prefers termites, spiders, and small beetles, using its sharp teeth and agile hunting skills for successful foraging. 
   Appearance
 Gonatodes fuscus is a petite lizard with a slender body and scaled skin. Predominantly brown, its saw-like scales exhibit a darker, contrasting pattern down the back. This species showcases large, conically-shaped eyes and a broad tail. Notably, mature males flaunt a brilliant blue patch on the nape of their neck, while females retain a more uniform brown coloration. 
   Behavior
 Gonatodes fuscus is a ground-dwelling, predominantly nocturnal species. Exhibiting a solitary nature, it shows territorial tendencies marked by aggressive displays and vocalizations. Remarkably agile and fast, it forages for insects, fruit, and small invertebrates in its chosen habitat. Notably, this species has unique thermoregulatory behaviors, basking in the sun to elevate body temperatures.
