Diet
Common genet primarily follows an omnivorous diet, relishing various invertebrate and vertebrate species. It feeds on small mammals, birds, eggs, fruits, and sometimes reptiles, exhibiting preferences per season and locale.
Appearance
Common genet is a small, slender carnivore with short legs and a long body. Its fur is dense, soft, and usually grey or brown, adorned with darker spots and stripes. It has a long, bushy tail covered in black and white rings. Its face is small and pointed, with large rounded ears. Males and females appear similar, and there are no noticeable changes in appearance with age or between subspecies.
Behavior
Common genet is primarily a solitary and strictly nocturnal species, famous for its arboreal and ground-based agility. It engages in scent-marking for territorial establishment. Its omnivorous foraging style is notable, including small animals, fruits, and insects in its diet.
