Description
The panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis) is a species of chameleon found in the eastern and northern parts of Madagascar in a tropical forest biome. Additionally, it has been introduced to Réunion and Mauritius.

Panther chameleon's diet primarily comprises of insects, particularly orthopterans such as crickets and locusts. For optimal health, they also consume gastropods and smaller vertebrates, supplemented with plant matter including leaves, flowers, and fruits.
Appearance
Panther chameleon boasts a robust, versatile form, shaped ideally for life in the trees. Stretching up to 23 inches in length, it displays broad shades of blues, reds, or greens, interspersed with bold patterns and eye-catching stripes. Its skin, rough and scaly, is complemented by a prehensile tail and agile gripped feet. Males, larger and more vibrant, notably possess a ridged crest along their back and head.
Behavior
Panther chameleon exhibits remarkable camouflage skills changing color based on emotions, light, and temperature. Solitary and highly territorial, males especially show hostile displays to defend their territory. Their arboreal nature is emphasized by their hunting behavior, waiting in trees to ambush prey.
