Description
The marsh cat or reed cat (Felis chaus) is a predator from the feline family (Felidae). It is a fairly common Asian cat species, which is mainly found in wetlands and is not afraid of swimming.

Jungle cat is predominantly carnivorous, predominantly consuming small land mammals like rodents alongside reptiles. Occasionally, they enrich their diet with birds, fish, and even invertebrates such as insects.
Appearance
The jungle cat is an average-sized feline with a slender yet muscular body covered with a short, coarse fur. It exhibits a uniform brownish coloration with lighter underparts. The legs are comparatively long, ending with large paws. Adults have a pair of dark-lined ears and a dark-tipped, bushy tail. Males are typically larger and more robust than the females. No subspecies related differences in appearance are notable.
Behavior
Jungle cat exhibits territorial and solitary tendencies, marking its territory through scent-marking behaviors. It primarily engages in crepuscular hunting, capitalizing on its native habitat's wild rodents and birds for prey. Uniquely, jungle cat is also known to partially submerge in water bodies to catch aquatic prey.
