Description
Colloquially, the word domestic cat is used for all cats who live in more or less direct contact with people. The technical language of breeders and breeding associations limits the term domestic cat to animals with a wide variety of growth types and coat colors that do not belong to a specific cat breed that has arisen through targeted and documented breeding.

Diet
Cat is an obligate carnivore, primarily consuming small mammals. While commercially-prepared foods are typical, cat also shows preference for birds, insects, and fish. A high-protein diet is essential for cat's health.
Appearance
Cat is a small to medium-sized mammal with a lithe body shape. They are covered in a soft, dense coat that can be various colors—most often white, black, brown, or a mix of these—and often exhibit unique striped or spotted patterns. Notable features include sharp retractable claws, a long tail for balance, and a round, expressive face with whiskers. Variations in size, color, and coat length can occur due to breed differences.
Behavior
Cat displays a blend of solitary and social behaviors, often displaying affections towards human caretakers. Nighttime activity is typical due to their crepuscular nature. Cat's distinctive behaviors include self-grooming, marking territory primarily with urine, and a hunting instinct manifesting in play. Cat communicates using a broad repertoire of vocalizations and body language.
