Description
The crab-eating frog (Fejervarya cancrivora) is a frog native to south-eastern Asia including Taiwan, China, the Philippines and more rarely as far west as Orissa in India. It has also been introduced to Guam, and was most likely introduced from Taiwan. It inhabits mangrove swamps and marshes and is the only known modern amphibian which can tolerate brief excursions into sea water.

Appearance

No significant differences in appearance occur due to age, gender, or subspecies. This amphibian lacks any distinctive appendages like horns or wings but has a prominent pair of hind legs, useful for strong leaps.
Behavior
Crab-eating frog showcases a spectrum of distinctive behaviors, including high physiological tolerance to salinity, enabling survival in coastal areas and brackish marshlands. This amphibian largely pursues a nocturnal lifestyle, engaging in foraging and territorial activity predominantly after dusk. The species is not inherently social, exhibiting limited interaction beyond mating rituals, which makes its behavior particularly intriguing.
