Description
The red-fronted lemur (Eulemur rufifrons) is a primate species from the group of lemurs (Lemuriformes). In 2001, it was recognized as a species independent of Brown Maki with the scientific name Eulemur rufus. In 2008, this species of R. Mittermeier et al. based on morphological and genetic differences in two species, the red maki (which retained the name Eulemur rufus) and the red-fronted lemur (now called Eulemur rufifrons).

Appearance

This highly social species often travels and interacts in mixed-sex groups, displaying vocal and physical methods of communication. It marks its territory with scent glands, detering rivals, and facilitating social bonds internally.
