Diet
Phantasmal poison frog are insectivores, primarily consuming small invertebrates. Their diet frequently consists of ants, beetles, and other tiny arthropods, adeptly capturing their prey using a fast-acting neurotoxic secretion to immobilize them.
Appearance
Phantasmal poison frog is a small frog with a slender body and smooth skin. Its primary coloration is bright orange or red, complemented by striking blue or green stripes running down its body. While males are slightly smaller than females, there are no notable differences in coloration or pattern between sexes. Their prominent features include their long, slender legs and large, round toe discs, which assist them with climbing and adhesion.
Behavior
Phantasmal poison frog's distinct behaviors are largely defensive, including conspicuous warning coloration and noxious skin secretions. As diurnal animals, they are active during the day, foraging for small arthropods. Phantasmal poison frog practices complex mating rituals involving vocal calls and tactile behavior. Territoriality is exhibited with males defending egg-laying sites.
