Appearance
Japanese rat snake is a medium-sized snake with a slender body. Its scales have a slick, glossy texture, primarily displaying a vivid yellowish-brown color. Striking in its appearance, alternating blotchy patterns of black or dark brown are distributed down the length of its body, becoming denser towards the tail. This feature is consistent across all ages, genders, and subspecies of the species.
Behavior
Japanese rat snake is a primarily diurnal species, often seen basking in the sun due to its ectothermic nature. Its preying strategy involves silent stalking, followed by a swift capture.
