Description
The ouachita dusky salamander (Desmognathus brimleyorum) has a relatively small range in the US states of Oklahoma and Arkansas. The female ouachita dusky salamander will lay her eggs in a muddy chamber on land, and will remain to guard them until they hatch. Newly-hatched larvae move to the water, where they seek out hiding spaces between stones or other debris.

Diet
Ouachita dusky salamander typically feeds on a variety of small invertebrates predominant in its terrestrial habitat, especially favoring spiders, beetles, and insect larvae. It exhibits a sit-and-wait hunting method to secure prey.
Appearance
Ouachita dusky salamander is a small, robust-bodied salamander with a granular skin texture. Adult individuals possess dark dorsolateral lines against a light brown to reddish brown body, contrasting with a paler belly. Notably, juveniles exhibit additional bright yellow or orange spots on their body. Females tend to be slightly larger than males. They lack any sort of tail fin, horns, or wings. In older individuals, the dorsolateral lines become more subdued.
Behavior
