Diet
Marbled tree frog primarily feeds on small arthropods, with a preferential inclination towards insects. Its diet includes various species of ants, beetles, spiders, and occasionally, small crustaceans, reflecting the frog's opportunistic feeding behavior.
Appearance
Marbled tree frog is a small-sized frog with smooth skin. Its body exhibits an exquisite mottled pattern of green and brown, blending perfectly with leafy habitats. The belly is often cream-colored. Males are slightly smaller than females. The most striking characteristic is its oversized, bright orange eyes, which contrast starkly due to the largely subdued coloration on the rest of its body.
Behavior
Marbled tree frog is nocturnal, active predominantly after rainfalls. Dominated by males, this species exhibits competitive mating calls. They have a unique hatching process where eggs, laid on leaves above water, drop tadpoles into the water post-hatching for further development. Marbled tree frog marks territory by vocalizing, fending off rival males.
