General Info
Lifespan
5-10 years
Diet
Common bronzeback tree snake predominately feeds on small reptiles, particularly lizards and skinks. Their diet is supplemented with amphibians, primarily tree frogs, in addition to insects when reptilian prey is scarce.
Appearance
Common bronzeback tree snake is a slender, medium-sized snake reaching lengths of up to 1.5 meters. Its smooth, lustrous skin displays a varying color palette including green, yellow, to dark brown, typically with a yellowish-white underside. A remarkable feature is the black line running from its eyes to the back of its head. There is no significant variation in appearance between sexes or different life stages of this species.
Behavior
Common bronzeback tree snake tends to be solitary and is notable for its fast and agile defensive behavior, rapidly sliding into leaf litter or forestry when threatened. Primarily diurnal, this species engages in foraging during the day, preying on small reptiles, amphibians, and insects. While not territorial, common bronzeback tree snake displays a remarkable adaptation to its arboreal environment by using its slender body for rapid movement amongst trees.
