Description
Darevskia portschinskii is a species of lizard in the family Lacertidae. The species is endemic to the South Caucasus region of Eurasia. There are two recognized subspecies.

Appearance
River kura lizard is a slender, small-to-medium-sized lizard with smooth, glossy scales. As adults, they have a typical grey-green base color, often with wavy or spots of dark brown across the back and tail. The males can be differentiated from the females by their brighter underside, which ranges from light green to yellow. It lacks any significant differences in appearance due to age, except juveniles are generally smaller.
Behavior
River kura lizard is a viviparous, diurnal reptile, principally solitary, exhibiting a territorial behavior by visual signaling and physical confrontations. Known for capable rock climbing, it forages primarily on arthropods. Females engage in unique parthenogenesis, producing clonal offspring without male fertilization. Overall, this species shows significant adaptation to alpine habitats.
