Diet

Siamese crocodile is a carnivorous species, predominantly consuming fish, invertebrates, and small vertebrates. In wild, it often engages in ambush hunting and is capable of preying on larger mammals when food is scarce.

Appearance

Siamese crocodile is a large, robust reptile known for its dark gray or black armored skin, covered with rows of rectangular, ridged scales. Boasting a streamlined body and a tapered, elongated snout, adorned with piercing, conical teeth, this species is an imposing sight. They bear a pair of narrow, wedge-shaped plates running from the eyes to the tip of the snout. This species shows no significant differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies.

Behavior

Siamese crocodile is a highly territorial, semi-aquatic species, skilled in ambushing its prey at water's edge. Renowned for its nocturnal habits, it employs a sit-and-wait hunting strategy. Despite its solitary nature, there are observed group dynamics during feeding and nesting seasons. This indicates a complex social structure within the species. Adapted to survive in tropical wetland habitats, it spends considerable time submerged, showcasing remarkable aquatic adaptations.
