Diet
Freshwater crocodile is a carnivorous creature that primarily feeds on fish and small mammals. It uses a mix of pursuits and ambush tactics to hunt prey, with its diet diversifying in accordance with availability and size as it matures.
Appearance
Freshwater crocodile is a medium-sized crocodile with a streamlined body covered in tough, rough textured skin, mainly dark-olive to grey in color. Its most distinguishable feature is its narrow snout, equipped with sharp teeth perfect for catching prey. An adult male can reach up to 3 meters, while females are generally smaller. Unique markings on the body, such as darker bands and spots, are most vibrant in younger crocodiles, fading gradually as they age.
Behavior
Freshwater crocodile exhibits mostly nocturnal behavior, being most active at dawn and dusk. This species exhibits solitary tendencies with territorial displays involving visual signals and vocalizations. It is known for its unique 'high walk' locomotion—a rare behavior seen in a few crocodile species. Primarily a freshwater dweller, freshwater crocodile is an ambush predator with remarkable adaptability, influencing its feeding patterns.
