Coelognathus flavolineatus, the black copper rat snake or yellow striped snake, is a species of Colubrid snake found in Southeast Asia. This species was previously recognized in the genus Elaphe.

Black copper rat snake is a sleek, slender snake with a glossy, scaly skin. It typically measures between 4 to 5 feet in length. The snake's main body color seems to be yellow with three brown longitudinal lines running the full length of the body. These lines may turn into a checkered pattern near the tail. Furthermore, its ventral surface is often unicolorous white. There are no prominent differences between genders, age groups, or subspecies.
Behavior
Black copper rat snake are mostly nocturnal, spending their days in concealed locations and coming out to hunt during the night. These solitary creatures exhibit territoriality, often reacting aggressively to intruders. Their primary survival behavior involves concealing themselves in the ground or in vegetation, blending in seamlessly with their natural environment.
