Description
The western green monkey (Chlorocebus sabaeus) is a primate species from the family of vervet monkeys (Cercopithecidae). It is one of the six ways in which the green monkeys are distinguished in more recent classifications.

Green monkey is primarily an omnivore, with fruits forming the bulk of its diet. It distinctively prefers fruits rich in sugars and pulp, but also eats leaves, insects, and occasionally small vertebrates.
Appearance
Green monkey is a medium-sized primate with a slender body, long limbs, and a long tail. Its fur is predominantly greenish-grey, but the face, hands, feet, and tip of the tail are black. Males have a vibrant blue scrotum and red penis. It has prominent, white cheek whiskers that stand out against its darker facial coloration. The young are more vibrant in color, but dim as they age.
Behavior
Green monkey is a socially oriented diurnal primate, exhibiting group living and reciprocal grooming behavior. It frequently engages in opportunistic omnivorous foraging in its natural habitat. This species maintains territories using vocalization and displays. Notably, it uses deception, a rare behavior across the animal kingdom.
