Description
The frilled-necked lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii), also known as the frilled lizard, frilled dragon or frilled agama, is a species of lizard which is found mainly in northern Australia and southern New Guinea. This species is the only member of the genus Chlamydosaurus.

Frilled-necked lizard, commonly known as the Frilled-Necked Lizard, primarily follows a carnivorous diet. It predominantly feeds on small arthropods, particularly ants and termites. This species occasionally consumes small mammals and other vertebrates.
Appearance
Frilled-necked lizard' is a medium-sized lizard with a total length of about 90 cm, of which two-thirds is tail. It has a broad, flattened body covered in large rectangular scales that are predominantly grey or brown. Its most striking feature is a large, fringed flap of skin around its neck, known as its 'frill', that it can extend and display when threatened or courtship, showcasing vivid colours and patterns. This frill is much larger and brighter in males.
Behavior
Frilled-necked lizard is a solitary, diurnal reptile known for its 'frill', used in territorial displays and for thermoregulation. It forages on small animals and plants and is arboreal, using its prehensile tail to climb trees. Notable for its color-changing ability as a camouflage technique, it only engages in aggressive behavior when threatened, often preferring to flee.
