Diet
Grey foam-nest tree frog primarily subsists on a diet of insects, with a particular preference for ants and beetles. Its arboreal lifestyle allows it to easily hunt its favorite prey.
Appearance
Grey foam-nest tree frog is a small, tree-dwelling frog with smooth skin. This species is unique as its skin ranges from completely transparent to a distinctive wine-red color, allowing it to blend with tree bark. Its body shape is slender with elongated limbs, and has large, webbed feet. During the day it flattens itself and spreads its limbs around the tree to blend in. This frog exhibits no significant differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies.
Behavior
Grey foam-nest tree frog is nocturnal, spending its day in tree hollows and foraging at night. It exhibits an uncommon foam-nesting behavior: females produce foam in which eggs are laid, providing both moisture and protection. Solitary, save during mating, its defensive strategy includes camouflage, blending well with its arboreal habitat, also used to ambush prey.
