  The gold-striped salamander, golden-striped salamander, saramaganta or pÃntega rabilonga (Chioglossa lusitanica) is a species of salamander in the Salamandridae family. It is the only species of the genus Chioglossa. It is found in the north-west of Iberia at an altitude of up to 1,300 m.

   Appearance

Notable features include long hind legs and a characteristic tail, which is bifurcated at the end. It has no significant differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies. 
   Behavior
 Gold-striped salamander is a nocturnal, solitary species, typically spending their day in moist caves or crevices. At night, they actively hunt for prey, displaying unique prehensile tail usage for balance and navigation. Males defend territories against rivals using distinctive body movements. They exhibit a very specific cannibalistic behavior under food shortage situations.
