Description
The white-shouldered capuchin monkey (Cebus capucinus) is a primate species from the capuchin monkey genus within the New World monkeys. It occurs in western Andean Colombia, in the northwest of Ecuador south to the Río Esmeraldas and in the east of Panama. The other Central American capuchin monkeys are now regarded as a separate species under the name Panama capuchin monkey (Cebus imitatus).

Colombian white-faced capuchin is an omnivore, primarily dependent on fruits. Apart from consuming a wide variety of fruits, it also feeds on leaves, flowers, invertebrates, vertebrates, and even bird eggs, making its diet highly diverse.
Appearance
Colombian white-faced capuchin is a mid-sized primate with a slim, agile body covered in coarse, creamy-white to light brown fur. It has a distinguishable black cap on its head, hence its name. The tail, used for climbing and balance, is prehensile and approximately the same length as the body. Both males and females look similar, but juveniles have a darker coat until they reach adulthood.
Behavior
Colombian white-faced capuchin demonstrate prominent social structures, reputed for intricate cooperative and competitive interactions within multi-male, multi-female groups. Prevalently daytime foragers, they engage in a wide diet inclusive of fruit, insects, and small vertebrates. Their behavior reflects intelligence and manipulation skills, from the use of tools to extract food to the hurling of branches as territorial defenses.
