Diet
Iberian ibex is primarily a browser, feeding on variety of leaves, twigs, and shoots of trees and shrubs. It often complements its diet with grasses, lichens, fruits, and nuts during different seasons.
Appearance
The iberian ibex is a robust and muscular animal. Adults feature dense, smooth coats boasting shades of reddish-brown or dark chestnut, often showing white marks near the chest and rump. Males also exhibit large, crescent-shaped horns that can measure nearly a meter in length. Sexual dimorphism is evident with males generally larger and darker, and females possessing lighter hues and shorter horns.
Behavior
Iberian ibex are social animals, forming herds usually overseen by a dominant male. They engage in distinctive seasonal movements between higher and lower altitudes, adapting to changing food availability. Iberian ibex display active territorial defense and a notably aggressive behavior during the mating season, characterized by intense fights between males.
