Diet
Indo-chinese forest lizard's primary dietary intake comprises a variety of insects. They majorly consume ants, beetles, and butterflies. Their insectivorous nature is complemented by the occasional consumption of plant matter, predominantly leaves and flowers.
Appearance
Indo-chinese forest lizard is a medium-sized reptile with a robust, elongated body and rough, scale-covered skin. Its color can vary from brown to brilliant green, often with a light stripe down the side. It has distinctive fringed scales along its throat and jaw, plus a long, tapering tail. Males are generally larger, with a thicker throat frill and more prominent nasal scales. There's no significant alteration in appearance with age.
Behavior
Indo-chinese forest lizard is a diurnal and solitary reptile, typically found perched on vegetation while hunting or basking in the sun. It exhibits a vibrant color change to communicate or display aggression, and to camouflage. Males are notoriously territorial and engage in head-bobbing displays to assert dominance. Unique to this species is their capability to 'play dead' as a form of predator avoidance.
