 Description

Black-tufted monkeys, like all other marmosets, are relatively small, reaching a body length of 19 to 22 centimeters and a weight of up to 350 grams. Their fur is gray on the back and limbs, the belly and head are black. The tail is striped gray and white. The face is covered with white hair. They have the ear tufts typical of tufted monkeys, which are dyed black in them. The limbs are rather short, as with all marmosets are on the fingers and toes (with the exception of the big toe) claws instead of nails.

   Diet
The diet of black-tufted marmoset largely consists of tree exudates such as gums, saps, and resins. They preferentially ingest insects, fruit, and flowers, but will also opportunistically consume small vertebrates when available.
   Appearance
The black-tufted marmoset is a small, agile primate possessing a robust body with a dense fur coat that is primarily black, tinged with streaks of gray. Standout features include long tufts of hair around their ears and a bushy tail. Their facial skin is bare and normally dark. There's no significant difference in physical attributes between genders or age groups.
   Behavior
Black-tufted marmoset, a primate, is gregarious and operates within matriarchal groups featuring a dominant female. Typical behaviors encompass grooming and vocal communication. They're territorial, marking their domains with secretions from specialized glands. Notably, they showcase cooperative breeding, wherein group members assist in raising offspring. Black-tufted marmoset's diet, predominantly tree exudates, requires sophisticated foraging strategies.
