  Zebra-tailed lizards (Callisaurus draconoides) are a genus of phrynosomatid lizards endemic to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico.

 The diet of zebra-tailed lizard primarily comprises of plant matter. This species has a preference for desert plants and flowers, particularly those belonging to the genera Opuntia and Cylindropuntia, consuming the soft, juicy pads and fruits they produce. 
   Appearance
 Zebra-tailed lizard is a small, lizard-like creature with a slender body covered in smooth scales. Its dominant coloration is a sandy beige, blending well with its desert habitat, but it boasts pronounced black blotches and zebra-like stripes near the tail. This species has a long tail, which it uses for balance, and strong hind legs designed for fast, bipedal locomotion. No significant differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies have been observed. 
   Behavior
 Zebra-tailed lizard showcases a conspicuous, unique performance when threatened, lifting its tail and body in a dramatic threat display. The species thrives in arid regions, utilizing the sand for hiding and predator evasion. Primarily diurnal, zebra-tailed lizard forages in the morning, and sunbathes to regulate its body temperature later in the day. While generally solitary, this species exhibits territorial behavior during the mating season.
